Lecture · 2023 · Boulder Summer School · 4 pages

Part of the series Quantum Error Mitigation (Boulder Summer School 2023); cited as one entry below.

Lecture notes walking through the PEC derivation from a single step. The conclusion is that the mitigated expectation value is a sign- and weight-adjusted sum over expectation values of Pauli-modified circuits, each run directly on hardware, with the reweighting done in classical post-processing.

  • PEC estimator as a quasi-probability sum over Pauli-modified circuits
  • Sampling weights and signs of the circuit instances
  • Rescaling and reweighting done in classical post-processing

Summary and key points drafted by a language model from the slides, not yet reviewed by me. The slides are the source.
