Uncovering Local Integrability in Quantum Many-Body Dynamics

Zlatko K. Minev

Research talk · 2024 · APS March Meeting (invited) · 63 pages

Places the experiment among early utility-scale demonstrations, then introduces integrals of motion, local integrals of motion (LIOMs) and their link to integrability and many-body localization. It shows how LIOMs were reconstructed from error-mitigated Floquet dynamics on a 104-qubit chain (1D) and a 124-qubit lattice (2D), decomposed by Pauli weight and compared with theory, with care about what 'integrable' means on finite observation times.

  • Map of utility-scale experiments by qubit count and two-qubit gate depth
  • Integrals of motion, LIOMs, quantum integrability and many-body localization
  • Measured LIOMs on a 1D chain and all 124 prethermal LIOMs in 2D
  • Operator-weight decomposition of LIOMs, experiment vs. theory, and possible applications
