Part of the series Intro to Quantum Noise (QGSS 2023).

Also published as a tech note; please cite that.

A pictorial reference for digital quantum circuits: the standard notation for wires, gates, controls, swaps and measurements, followed by a set of identities with short explanations. Useful as a quick lookup when pushing Paulis through Hadamard, S and CNOT gates, as is done in twirling and noise analysis.

  • Notation for quantum and classical wires, Bell pairs, controlled gates, swaps and measurements
  • Pauli basis changes under H and S, and the Pauli decomposition with its phase
  • CNOT propagation rules: X travels forward from control to target, Z travels backward
  • Relations between cX, cY and cZ and products of multiple CNOTs

Summary and key points drafted by a language model from the slides, not yet reviewed by me. The slides are the source.
