Intro to Quantum Noise (main lecture)
Part of the series Intro to Quantum Noise (QGSS 2022); cited as one entry below.
Uses a qubit-flipper circuit, ideal versus measured on hardware, to motivate what one needs to know before running a quantum simulation on a noisy device. Covers coherent noise from miscalibrated rotations on the Bloch sphere, incoherent noise as quantum trajectories, measurement and projection noise, and SPAM, with practice questions and an outlook on error mitigation and correction.
- Gate time evolution and miscalibrated R_X rotations as coherent errors
- Incoherent noise unraveled into quantum trajectories, e.g. a bit-flip channel contracting the Bloch sphere
- Measurement in a nutshell, projection noise, and noisy meters (SPAM)
- Bonus content: two-qubit ZZ error, the readout A matrix, entropy, and state-preparation noise
Summary and key points drafted by a language model from the slides, not yet reviewed by me. The slides are the source.
