To Catch and Reverse a Quantum Jump Mid-Flight (broad talk)
A short talk for a broad audience on the textbook picture of quantum jumps as discrete, instantaneous and unpredictable. It contrasts this with the experimental finding that a jump in progress is continuous and coherent and can be predicted and reversed mid-flight, and connects the result to error correction and quantum sensing.
- The traditional view of quantum jumps and the Bohr-Einstein-Schrödinger debate
- A jump in progress as a continuous, coherent evolution with some predictability
- Catching and reversing a jump mid-flight
- Relevance to quantum error correction and sensing
Summary and key points drafted by a language model from the slides, not yet reviewed by me. The slides are the source.
