Superconducting Qubits 101: Quantum Hardware & cQED, Day 2

Zlatko K. Minev

Lecture · 2020 · Qiskit Global Summer School · 73 pages

Part of the series Superconducting Qubits 101; cited as one entry below.

The second of two summer-school lectures on superconducting qubits. It restricts the transmon to its two lowest levels to get the qubit Pauli operators, introduces the energy-participation ratio, and discusses control lines, T1/T2 and the fluctuation-dissipation link. A primer on quantum measurement then leads to qubit-resonator coupling, the cross-Kerr Hamiltonian from EPR, and dispersive readout of Z.

  • Transmon Kerr Hamiltonian and truncation to the qubit subspace
  • Energy-participation ratio: the fraction of a mode's energy stored in each junction
  • Control, noise and dissipation; T1, T2 and coherence trends in superconducting circuits
  • Quantum measurement basics (back-action, QND vs. demolition) and cQED dispersive readout

Summary and key points drafted by a language model from the slides, not yet reviewed by me. The slides are the source.
