Superconducting Qubits 101: Quantum Hardware & cQED, Day 1
Part of the series Superconducting Qubits 101; cited as one entry below.
The first cQED lecture of the QGSS 2020 series moves from the big picture of qubits in the cloud and at 15 mK to atoms, artificial atoms, and the transmon. It works through circuit electromagnetism and the classical LC oscillator, then quantizes it with Dirac's procedure, covering ladder operators, flux and charge fluctuations, wavefunctions, and phase-space pictures, with pointers to hands-on lab work.
- Qubit from atom or anharmonic oscillator; cQED ingredients
- Classical LC circuit: Kirchhoff's laws, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian
- Dirac canonical quantization and its pitfalls (operator ordering, compact variables)
- Quantum harmonic oscillator: ladder operators, zero-point fluctuations, wavefunctions, Husimi Q
Summary and key points drafted by a language model from the slides, not yet reviewed by me. The slides are the source.
